Frequently asked questions

What is Kalondo.app?

For the moment, a simple to-do app. Capture everything that comes to mind in your Inbox. Then, after evaluating if it's worth a to-do and refining it, move it to Next. And when planning your day, star the to-dos you want to work on: they show up in Focus.

What do "Kalando" and "Do beautiful" mean?

In Ancient Greece, the Stoics had a single word for something that was simultaneously moral, effective, and harmonious: Kalon—often translated as "beautiful", "noble" or "fine". We combined this with the English do to emphasize action.

"Do Beautiful" is kalon translated into a modern call to action.

While grammatically standard language would say "Do good" or "Act beautifully," "Do Beautiful" intentionally fuses action with character.

&nbps;

To the Stoics, beauty wasn't about how something looked on the outside. It was about how an action was performed on the inside. An act of courage, a well-organized system, or a gesture of genuine kindness possessed an intrinsic, quiet beauty.

"Do Beautiful" is our commitment to that standard. It means three simple things:

  • Get Things Done (Action): Good intentions mean nothing without execution.
  • Bring Order to Chaos (Structure): Do your work with clarity, precision, and proportion.
  • Act with Integrity (Morality): Choose what is noble, fair, and right—even when no one is watching.

When you organize your world and act with purpose, your actions become more than just completed tasks on a checklist. They become a work of art.

Don't just get things done. Do Beautiful.

European?

Yes. I live in the Netherlands myself. The site is run in Europe, with European companies. Your data is on a server of Hetzner, a German company, in their data center in Helsinki, Finland. Emails are sent through Brevo, a French company.

Who can read my to-dos?

Only you can see them in the app. In the database, the titles and notes of your to-dos are stored encrypted. The privacy page explains exactly what that does and doesn't protect against.

What's the difference between Basic and Plus accounts?

Your account type sets how many open to-dos you can have at the same time. Done to-dos don't count, so completing or deleting open to-dos makes room for new ones. You can see your account type and its limit in Settings. New accounts are set to Basic.

Can I add details to a to-do?

Yes: open a to-do and use Notes. Notes support formatting like bold, lists, checklists and links. In Settings you choose whether the notes editor opens with formatting buttons (Rich text) or as plain Markdown.

What if I forget my password?

Choose Forgot password? on the sign-in page. You'll get an email with a link to choose a new password. Your to-dos stay just as they were.

Does Kalondo use cookies or trackers?

Only the cookies needed to keep you signed in and to protect forms, and one for light or dark mode if you choose it. No tracking, no ads, and nothing is loaded from other websites.

How do I sign up?

You are probably asking because you don't see a 'sign up' link appear anywhere. Well, this project was started in October 2026 and is still in development.

I'm using it myself at the moment and will probably allow some friends/family to have a look as well. Beta testers will become a thing though, so I'll open it up for a few new users at a time at some point. There is no schedule, sorry.

How do I add an empty line in the to-do notes with markdown?

HTML is filtered out for safety so <br /> will not work. What you can do is use &nbsp; instead, between two empty lines:

Blah blah
